PreZero: rebranding the fleet as well as materials

Challenge | The rebranding of a large fleet and stickering of 216,000 containers |
We have worked with PreZero for years, starting when BFI/Watco rebranded to Sita, a transformation that involved a full brand identity overhaul. For us, this included rebranding the entire fleet and all materials. In 2016, we stepped in again when the company became SUEZ. The most recent rebranding – from SUEZ to PreZero – was the biggest yet: 1,700 vehicles and 216,000 skips, all requiring a fresh brand identity. A logical challenge, but one we tackled without disrupting PreZero’s daily operations.

Rebranding a diverse fleet
PreZero’s fleet is extensive and varied, with 1,700+ vehicles spread across more than thirty locations in the Netherlands. The challenge? Not just the diversity of the fleet, but also its availability. Maybe you’ve never realised, but the collection of waste in the Netherlands is a finely tuned machine, and taking a vehicle out of rotation for too long could cause disruptions.
The goal, set by PreZero and RGN, was ambitious: rebranding 1,700+ vehicles and their materials in just six months. In consultation with PreZero, we developed a strategic plan with practical solutions. For example, ensuring vehicles were only wrapped at the end of the afternoon and in the evening, allowing drivers to return to their usual vehicles the next day, now with a brand-new look.
To keep things running smoothly, we also optimised access routes and simultaneously worked at multiple locations to meet the tight deadline.
216,000 skips rebranded
When SUEZ changed its name to PreZero, an additional 216,000 skips required a new branding – a huge operation that ran from March to October 2022. The challenge wasn’t just the scale of the project, but again the logistics: all skips were located at different locations.
To add to the complexity, all stickers had to be applied outdoors. That meant dealing with weather conditions – while we’re not afraid of a bit of bad weather, wind and rain could completely halt operations. And in cold temperatures, adhesives wouldn’t bond properly. Timing and flexibility were essential.

A strategic puzzle, solved
Thanks to clever project management and the flexibility of our installation teams, we successfully completed the rebranding on time. We were strategically coordinating our installation teams – sending them all across the Netherlands, while ensuring maximum productivity with minimal travel distance.
By working closely with PreZero’s clients, we streamlined scheduling and delivered ahead of schedule – without interfering with daily operations.
For many organisations, fleet rebranding is a key part of a brand identity transformation. At RGN, we manage fleet rebranding for leading brands like Antea, BMN Bouwmaterialen, the Amsterdam municipal government, Kuehne+Nagel, Just Eat Takeaway, and Vitens.
